With the advent of ever-improving smartphone camera technology, the digital SLR’s exclusive dominance in the world of quality photography is slowly crumbling. Smartphone users around the world are proving that a good photographer’s eye is far more important for taking a good photograph than your photographic hardware, so the IPPAWARDS (iPhone Photography Awards) were created to recognize their efforts.
The photos in this competition, which was organized by Apple, need to have been taken with an iPhone, iPod or iPad and cannot have been edited on any way by desktop software (device-based apps are allowed).
Take a look at the winners – maybe they’ll inspire you to take an amazing photo with your own smartphone!
The FUJIFILM X-M1 compact system camera is a lightweight camera that includes the same 16.3 Megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor used in the critically acclaimed FUJIFILM X-Pro1and X-E1 that delivers outstanding image quality, all in a premium, beautifully crafted body.
PicLab HD makes image editing an absolute doddle – enabling you to either snap a photo or grab one from your photo library, then go to town on it. As well as adding typography – lots of fonts and full control over size, positioning, opacity, rotation, and colour – you can layer illustrations, ornamentation and other design elements.
Memories. Experiences. Images. Snap them and they’re yours. But now, with Snapseed, the fun really begins. Get a little gritty with your images. Add some drama. Go vintage. Or selectively adjust with a tap and a swipe. We’ve made sophisticated photo editing effects – high-powered techniques the pros use – really simple, intuitive, and just a little addictive. If you’re just getting started, head over to learn or take a scroll here through what’s possible. Right now. With just a couple of taps, swipes, and clicks.
